wound careEvery year, chronic wounds caused by diabetes, insect bites, pressure ulcers, trauma or other conditions keep 3 to 5 million people from leading their normal lives. The Wound Care Center at Northern Nevada Medical Center can help.

The Wound Care Center at Northern Nevada Medical Center offers advanced treatment using leading edge scientific advances in wound care, including two hyperbaric chambers for stubborn wounds that require oxygen therapy. The Wound Care Center is a hospital-based outpatient service staffed by a multidisciplinary team of doctors and nurses who focus on treating nonhealing wounds.

How Nonhealing Wounds Are Treated
Northern Nevada Medical Center offers a variety of treatment options, depending on the type and severity of nonhealing wounds. Your treatment may include the following therapies:

  • Infectious disease management
  • Physical therapy
  • Vascular evaluation
  • Laboratory evaluation
  • Nutritional management
  • Pain management
  • Diabetic education
  • Nuclear medicine
  • Radiology
  • Debridement (removal of dead or infected tissue)
  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy

When to Get Help for a Chronic Wound

If you have a sore or wound that is not significantly better in a month, or healed entirely in two months, ask your doctor about The Wound Care Center® at Northern Nevada Medical Center.
