
Mark W. Crawford, CEO Mark W. Crawford has been CEO of Northern Nevada Medical Center since July 2007. Crawford joined NNMC after serving as Chief Operating Officer at Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas, a 286-bed UHS facility.
“Mark Crawford’s background of more than 10 years in executive leadership roles is a strong asset to Northern Nevada Medical Center’s growth plans for the dynamic Sparks-Reno community,” said David Bussone, UHS Regional Vice-President, Western Region.
Crawford came to UHS after six years with Health Management Associates, where he last served as CEO of University Medical Center, a 257-bed, two-campus healthcare system in Lebanon, Tennessee. He also has held CEO and COO positions in California, Oklahoma and Virginia.
Crawford began his career in the United States Air Force in 1988 as a medical laboratory specialist. He transferred to the Air National Guard in 1992, where he served as the education and training manager for the Medical Squadron of the 182nd Airlift Wing in Peoria, Illinois. He received his Master of Business Administration degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, his Bachelor of Science degree from Charter Oak State College in New Britain, Connecticut, and his Associate of Science degree in medical laboratory technology from the Community College of the Air Force.
Crawford and his wife, Kathy, have four children: Lauryn,17; Matthew, 15; Paige, 7; and Ryan, 5. Crawford and his family enjoy living in the Truckee Meadows. "This is one of the most beautiful places we have ever lived," he said.
